 Shooting Stars
Back to Full Blog

I had to post a different blog, just to tell about my very interesting afternoon and nite on Friday.

I just had to search out a old friend that day, I was not sure if they still lived in the same place but I had an address and I looked up directions to get there.  I was very nervous about going, but I just had to go.

When I arrived it looked like the same place and in the yard I saw a guy, so I called out his name to make sure it was him, he didnot know me either and when he heard my voice he then knew it was me.  There was a big smile on his face, and I asked where his wife was, and he got her to come outside, she did look a little distressed, which she was, there were a lot of things happening in their lives.  I knew this, because the hubby had a quick telling to me of it.

We sat outside and proceeded to catch up on things. they were both shocked that I had showed up there.  I told them I was in town paying bills, but I really had gone to see them.  I knew things were not right, and I batteled with myself about if I should pop up there, I know some would have said it is not your problem, you have enough of your own.  but, inside of me I wanted to go and see if I could help in some way.  Sometimes it just helps to see an old face.  Even if it were only mine.

These 2 people have gone through so much as I and my hubby have, and I believe they should be together.  Life has taken it toil on them as it has on so many of us.  She told me of all the unexpected surprises in her life, how these things have taken their toil on their marriage and on her emotions. I told her of all the things in my life that have happen and then talked of how I am working on changing my attitude on it all.  I told her of how I am now shoving that big old weight off my shoulders and trying to see who I am and what is really important.

As nervous as I was about going, I was so pleased that I did. We sat there on her front steps just talking and talking just letting it all out.  I think she really need to do that, and so did I.  We took a drive to pick up her daughter and we sat down for a while and had a lady's drink, which I so enjoyed, not too strong, but just enough to relax the nerves.  It had been so long since I had just gotten out by myself and just visit someone and not worried about anything.  I knew my family was just fine.

We headed back to her home and we sat some more and continue to chat.  The conversation was about so many different things.  Of how we first met, and how much we have changed over the years and how some others have never changed.  We were sad at some things and laughed at other things.

I want to say I arrived at her home around 3 or 4 in the afternoon and didnot leave until 3am in the morning.  We stayed outside the whole time, and it very comfy.  As we stood  chatting I quess around 2am she noticed a shooting star which I didnot see because it was behind me, but what was funny was she again saw another, then another, 3 shooting stars flew over and behind me, she was in awe, she said she had only seen a shooting star maybe once or twice in her life time, and I was the same.  She was not sure what it meant, neither did I, but then it happened I saw one fly over behind her, and it was awesome, not just a twinkle falling but a real streak of light shot down.  She was glad that I had seen one too, she was begining to think she was seeing things or that maybe she had seen it only because something bad was going to happen to her, but now I had seen one, and then I saw another one, not as bright, but another one shot down.  It was awesome, here we were just chatting and feeling so relaxed and not a worry in the world for the first time in a long time and then seeing the shooting stars made it so much more.

We decided it was time to say goodnite, I had at least an hours drive and it was late or should I say early morning, lol.  She had to go in and do some work on the saturday at her job, so it was time to say goodnite. From that first moment of my arrival,  No smile on her face, had changed by this time, she and I were both smiling, and it really felt good.  I am glad that I could do that for her even if only for a nite, and she done the same for me.

We exchanged phone numbers and email address, and gave our hugs and goodnites to eachother.  I hope to be able to continue with our friendship even if through emails or phone calls, I think we all need that.
