Wow..I've just read Miss Lou's posting...she posted Martin Luther King's speech...It was the first time I've ever heard or read it fully...Very powerful words...
I believe all races need to read it over and over again..to really see his words..to really understand what he was saying...
Back in 1970..in my town..my very first day of school ever..1st grade..was the day they put all kids together..To me there was no difference..all I saw was another kid to have fun with..But..as I got older...I've seen where ppl make the difference between..and it comes from both races..and I think it is so sad...
Somehow..ppl have lost the true meaning of King's dream..of our dream..they have used his words as a way to fight each other..to isolate them selves..I blame both races..I see both trying to be supreme to the other..so opposite of what King was saying..you know..if we would stop focusing so much on the things that have not changed "YET"...then maybe we could actually see all the good that has progressed this far..and then we could do as King says..to continue down the road..and not go back..
This is what I feel...
My outer shell is white..and yours is black..but what's inside is what's truly important..Neither of us is above the other..God made all..and he loves all..
I don't mean to target only 2 races..for I believe it pertains to all races..All are equal in The Lord's eyes..and should be in ours...
I pray for God's forgiveness for the times I've had prejudice in my heart..and I pray that all may open their hearts and truly see the gift of life..no matter the color of one's skin..or of one's differences...I pray that no matter how cruel and hard this world may be...That we never give up on Love..Faith..Hope..
This I make in Jesus's name..Amen..
P.S..June..I hope you don't mind..but I used your photo ...of King..
